Is Yoga Alliance Realy our only option? Absolutely not!!
Wow! What an amazing journey life can be if you stay open to the
possibilities. Not sure what to do about my affiliation with the Yoga
Alliance, I decide to see if there are other options. I have spoke to
many teachers in the community about YA and we all seem to have the same
concerns. So I went looking for a solution to the problem. I am
involved with the Texas Yoga Association and as I spoke to the founder
about looking for options did not realize that this was part of her
Agenda. She has visions of creating One Yoga USA, and I am excited for
that. However my time with YA is up, now.
I found an organization called Yoga Alliance International, no
affiliation with YA as we know it. They are issuing CYT as opposed to
RYT at the 100 hour 200 hour and 500 hour. I am not interested in a per
hour certification. I am really not even interested in a certification
but an association to support me and my fellow teachers.
So I kept looking, and low and behold I found, or should I say
International Association of wellness Professionals, found me. They are
launching in May and really liked what I was reading.
Established
in 2009, the International Wellness Professionals Association was
founded in order to improve global health by increasing the prevalence
in the use of alternative wellness modalities. Our members are wellness professionals, business owners, product providers, schools and enthusiasts.
For
professionals, we offer tools, strategies, support and resources to
help connect our members with those who would benefit from their
services. For
enthusiasts, who enjoy wellness as a lifestyle, we provide opportunity
to connect with and learn directly from industry professionals. Our
professional members pass along many perks for their support.International Wellness Professionals Association
I had the privilege of speaking with the Founder and President Alyette
Keldie. And talk about kindred spirits. She was unaware of what was
really going on in the world of Yoga, and state and YA. We both agreed
here we have the makings of a solution!I love what Leslie Kaminoff has proposed for the Independent Yoga Educators of America, You should check out his site as this is yet another options for yoga teachers. His statement of principles is fantastic. So
now as I go out visiting local studios and teachers and the topic of
the YA comes up, I have several options to offer as solutions. We no
longer have to by into the YA as being the regulating body of yoga.
Many of us do not and have not agreed with them, yet felt for what ever
reason that we were obligated to meet their standards for education.I
am excited to see how all of this unfolds and the role that the
universe has in store for me and my involvement. Stay tuned as things
are rocking and rolling in the world of yoga as we know it!! See you on the mat! |
