Over the last 15 years, we have shared our spiritual journey through music locally at places like Unity Church of Fort Worth and Unity Church of Dallas, as well as spiritual gatherings and yoga studios around the country. In the summer of 2006, our first Sanskrit mantra “found” us (Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya) and began to transform our lives as we faced the near death of our newborn son Fen; our perspective on life and spirituality dramatically shifted and deepened. However, it wasn’t until 2008 that we began using Sanskrit sutras to help focus our daily meditation practice. By 2009, we were chanting simple mantras as a family and began incorporating them into our music. Soon after, we were introduced to the power and joy of Kirtan and chanting with others, and our lives took a dramatic shift!

We began to feel an inexpressible peace and freedom regardless of our hectic life traveling the country with our “day job” and homeschooling our three children Ivy (11), Bailee (9), and Fen (3). The chaos of our life hadn’t changed so much as our perspective had changed. We still face the challenges and obstacles life can sometimes bring--only now, we are filled with a profound peace regardless of how high or low the mountains and valleys become.

Over the last year, we have had the privilege of studying and deepening our chanting practice in the presence of some amazing teachers. We completed a Nada Yoga workshop with renowned Kirtan artist Bhagavan Das (http://www.BhagavanDas.com) and are studying the ancient, sacred language of Sanskrit to deepen our understanding and experience of these mantras with Manorama, founder of Sanskrit Studies in NYC (http://www.SanskritStudies.org).

Kristin is also incorporating these sacred mantras into her daily Asana practice as she completes her 200 hr teacher training in Priya Yoga with founder, Michelle Andrie. We hope that by sharing our Bhakti Yoga experience through chanting and Kirtan that others will find the same peace we have found. We look forward to joining with you in this practice to open our hearts and experience the beauty and love life has to offer in a deeper and more meaningful way.

Om Shanti,
